Events

Open events are regularly organized in the framework of the PARADISO initiative in order to efficiently interact with individuals and organisations from all over the world, specialised or interested in issues related to societal developments and to ICT research. A precise expected output of these events is the thorough discussion of the draft versions of the PARADISO reference document.

Two such events have been organised over the period 2008-2009:

  • a PARADISO workshop on June 12-13, 2008 at the European Commission in Brussels, attended by over 40 experts (attendee list), coming from all regions of the world,
  • the “ICT for a global sustainable future” conference (event flyer), held at the European Commission in Brussels on January 22-23, 2009 with the support of many international organisations, including the OECD, UNESCO, and ITU. Over 800 persons from around 70 countries followed the event, either from the Charlemagne building (attendee list) where the event took place or online, the event having been broadcasted live on the Internet during the two days.

The proceedings of these two events can be accessed through the corresponding sub-sections of the present section.

Two other main events will be organized over the period 2010-2011:

  • a PARADISO workshop on November 23, 2010 at the European Commission in Brussels,
  • The “Internet and societies – New innovation paths” conference, on September 7-9, 2011 at the European Commission in Brussels.

Details on these two events can be found in the corresponding sub-sections of the present section.
